The Origins of Sushi
Sushi is believed to have originated in Southeast Asia, in what is now modern-day Thailand. Around the 4th century BCE, people in this region began preserving fish by packing it in salt and rice, a technique known as narezushi. The rice helped to ferment the fish, making it safe to eat even after long periods of storage.
Over time, this technique spread to neighboring countries, including China and Japan. In Japan, the technique was refined, and sushi as we know it today began to take shape.
In the 8th century, the Japanese began eating raw fish with rice, but it wasn't until the 19th century that sushi became a widespread and popular dish in Japan.

There are several types of sushi, including nigiri, maki rolls, temaki, and more.
Today, sushi is a global phenomenon enjoyed by millions of people around the world. In addition to traditional sushi, there are now countless variations and fusion dishes that incorporate sushi flavors and ingredients. From spicy tuna rolls to California rolls to sushi burritos, the possibilities are endless.
